There's more to marketing than you think.

There's more to making money online than you think..

There's more to life than you think...

These days, all the social media algorithms are designed to show you more of what you are already interested in.

Take Facebook for example - watch or engage with any type of content, and you will be shown more of the same content.

On YouTube, watch video on one particular topic, and you will be shown dozens of videos similar to that topic.

You see, the whole aim of the algorithms is to make you stick to the platform, because after all, that's how they (the platforms) make money, right?

The algorithm knows that if it shows you topics you are not interested in, you won't stick to their platform for long enough. There is no incentive for them to show you topics you are not interested in.

The problem with that is, once the algorithm takes control of what you like, you lose your right to choose, because essentially you are not been given any option at all. All you are being shown is more of the same thing that you just consumed.

This creates a very serious problem, once we are hooked into a topic, we remain totally distant to what other things are happening in the world. Our worldview becomes narrow, and all we care about are the things that the algorithm starts recommending us.

We become doomed to whatever is being shown to us.

An example that I recently experienced that made me write this post -

Since a past few days, I have been wondering what I have to do in life.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I am kinda disappointed with the direction today's marketing is going.

But all I see around me is people engaging with those kinds of things.

When I open my Facebook, all I see is people claiming how many affiliate sales they made, or how they cracked their $10k clients all all those stuff.

I started wondering, is this really the only way to achieve success in the online world? Because all I always see when I open Facebook is these kinds of posts.

Also, the people engaging with that type of content - all they care about is the very same things. And their content too is similar, and so on...

Those people are clouded by such things, and they are literally sold to that opportunity, and all they believe is "to become successful, I have to do these things that others are doing".

Guys, wake up...

There are gazzilion different ways to make money online.

Take a moment and zoom out, and look at the bigger picture. Look for inspirations outside of these influencers promoting their shitty courses. There are thousands of successful people, who don't show-off how much money they make.

The job of marketers selling you their courses is to make you believe, that the only way to become successful is to buy their goddamn product!

Read this from the book Expert Secrets:

“If I can make people believe that (my new opportunity) is / are key to (what they desire most) and is / are only attainable through (my specific vehicle), then all other objections and concerns become irrelevant and they have to give me money.

If I can get someone to TRULY believe that the new opportunity is the key to what they want the most, and they can ONLY get it through my vehicle, then they have no other options but to buy. This is the key to launching your movement. Belief.”

Don't randomly fall for the hyped-up marketing for anything. Stop and think.

Look if it actually makes sense for you.

Explore other options, or at least consider them.

Don't let social media algorithms cloud your judgement.

There are millions of opportunities, don't fall into trap of any hyped-up marketing.

P.S. Here are some resources if you are interested in the dark sides of social media, and if you want to reduce the control of social media algorithms from your life.

  • Good Post, Aashish

I watched The social dilemma a few months back, I was aware of these algorithms how these impact our regular life but I was shocked to see to what extent they can do it.

Nice cover-up! Being a marketer, I can’t leave these platforms but yeah I’m able to optimize them in an effective way.
